Canadian Mitsubishi dealerships are currently collecting food and monetary donations for local food banks across Canada while the corporate head office is doing the same for Food Banks Canada.

The initiative is part of Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada’s Driving to End Hunger campaign, which runs all of September, ending on Sept. 30.

At the national level, the company is donating $100,000, plus corporate employees at the company’s Mississauga headquaters are collecting food donations and volunteering with Food Banks Canada.

“Our slogan is Drive your Ambition, and with this Driving to End Hunger campaign, our ambition is to help the growing number of Canadians who struggle to afford groceries for their families,” said MMSCAN president and CEO Kenji Harada, in a news release. “I’m grateful that nearly every one of our dealerships have joined this fantastic initiative this year. It shows that Mitsubishi is a brand that cares about making the world a better place – right down to the local community level.”

At the dealership level, each location is collecting food and funds, as well as putting on fundraising events, in support of a food bank in their area.

Food donations collected at dealerships will be delivered to local food banks between Oct. 1 and 10, ahead of Thanksgiving weekend.

The company will announce how much was raised on World Food Day on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
