Aston Martin has pulled the wraps off its new halo car, the Vanquish.
This new supercar returns the Vanquish name to the marque after an absence of several years.
This one is powered by a 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine producing 835 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque. Canadian translation: 824 hp and 738 lb.-ft. of torque.
The car has a maximum speed of 345 km/h (214 mph), the highest speed of any production-series Aston Martin ever.
Zero to 100 km/h is achieved in 3.3 seconds.
“With the introduction of the most potent flagship in its 111-year history, Aston Martin is proud to announce the return of its most legendary nameplate: Vanquish,” the automaker wrote in a news release.
With the latest Vanquish, Aston Martin says it created a car featuring state-of-the-art dynamics technology, carbon fibre bodywork of unmatched presence and an interior that sets new standards for modern luxury.
The V12 engine
The engine continues 25 years of Aston Martin’s V12s and is said to meet emissions legislation across global markets.
This latest V12 was updated and honed and features reduced inertia turbochargers with a higher maximum speed, up by 15 per cent, intended to harness the increased energy of the exhaust and to provide increased airflow to the engine. The engine also gets new fuel injectors with a 10 per cent higher flow rate, which helps the engine reach peak power and meet emissions targets.

There’s also a new Boost Reserve function, which allows for even more reactive power delivery, Aston Martin says. The system increased turbo boost pressure above what would normally be required, meaning it’s ready to be unleashed when full power is needed.
Valvoline, the technical partner for the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, is supplying the latest high performance engine oil. The engine oil will flow through an engine oil cooler that’s been enlarged over previous iterations to ensure the oil’s optimal working temperature.
A ZF eight-speed automatic transmission is mated to an electronic rear limited slip differential (e-diff), which is integrated into the electronic stability program, which allows for optimal traction in all conditions.
“It was inconceivable that a new Aston Martin flagship should be powered by anything other than a state-of-the-art V12,” said Aston Martin chief technical officer Roberto Fedeli in the release. “To this end our engineering team completely reworked our existing 5.2-litre twin-turbo engine from block casting to cylinder heads. With ambitious targets for gains in power and torque, plus equally tough goals for improvements in driveability, efficiency and global emissions compliance, the result is a modern masterpiece. One which delivers performance characteristics unmatched by any other car in its category. As such Vanquish makes an emphatic statement, with its abundant power and prestige surpassed only by the passion and skill poured into its creation.”
Like the DB12 and Vantage, the Vanquish is built around a bonded aluminum body structure. Lateral stiffness has been increased 75 per cent over Aston Martin’s previous flagship car, the DBS 770 Ultimate.
Through various damper settings, the Vanquish can deliver what Aston Martin calls “crushing capability” and be relaxing and secure on long drives.

Vanquish interior
On the inside of the two-seater, occupants will find a new interior architecture, which Aston Martin calls a leap forward in its next generation sports cars.
The centre console has been lowered into a horizontal plane, and the interior blends materials to create bold visible lines to boost the feeling of quality and luxury, the automaker says. There’s also a blend of technology and tactile surfaces and all key driver controls are centrally mounted with frequently used functions within easy reach of the driver.
The infotainment system was developed in-house from scratch and can connect to Apple iOS and Android devices. The connected services connect through globally roaming 4G LTE/GSM cell networks via an embedded e-SIM, which is hosted by Aston Martin.
There’s a full-length panoramic glass roof, and on the audio front, the Vanquish gets a Bowers & Wilkins 15-speaker, double-amplified surround sound system.
“With the introduction of Vanquish we have crowned Aston Martin’s next-generation sports car portfolio,” said Aston Martin executive chairman Lawrence Stroll in the release. “A true halo model in every respect, Vanquish makes an emphatic statement, one that further delivers on our mission to create the most potent, most beautiful and most exciting cars in the ultra-luxury sports car market. As such Vanquish is the truest of Aston Martins. Immaculately designed and impeccably engineered it sets extraordinary new standards of performance, style and luxury for a new generation of connoisseurs”.
The Vanquish is available to order now with first deliveries expected in the fourth quarter of 2024. Full model details are available on the Aston Martin website.
