Are you shopping for a used car?

If so, you might want to check out a list that could help you choose which vehicle brands to shop from and which ones to avoid.

Consumer Reports, a non-profit consumer organization, has launched its first-ever brand ranking for used cars with a focus on their reliability.

The 2024 list is based on five- and 10-year-old models, so from the years 2014 and 2019.

The results are based on a survey from owners of more than 150,000 vehicles.

At the top of the used car brand reliability report are Lexus, Toyota, Mazda, Acura and Honda, in that order.

The entire list of 26 brands is available on the Consumer Reports website and it’s accessible for free.

If you want to check out the reliability score of an individual model, Consumer Reports has that as well, but this data is behind a paywall.

There are a number of other lists available for free, so you can check out what’s the best buy for cars, SUVs, hybrids, pickup trucks and more under a certain price. Consumer Reports is based in the United States so the pricing is in U.S. dollars, but generally Canadian vehicle models mirror America ones.
