Maserati has launched its latest super sports car that is said to combine elements of the automaker’s race car and one of its luxury super sports cars.

The latest machine wearing the trident badge is the Maserati GT2 Stradale, which debuted at Monterey Car Week in California.

“Maserati GT2 Stradale is an ode to the most extraordinary and exclusive sportiness, the result of a technical and stylistic partnership between the Maserati GT2, a masterpiece of performance created for the brand’s return to GT competitions, and Maserati MC20, an iconic Trident car imbued with an unmistakable style,” a news release from Maserati said in describing the new car.

The GT2 Stradale is a rear-wheel-drive sports car powered by a twin-turbo, 90-degree-shaped, 3-litre V6 engine producing 640 hp, which is 10 hp more than in the MC20, making it the most powerful road-going Maserati with an internal combustion engine. The 531 lb.-ft. of torque is available at 3,000 rpm. The car also weighs 60 kilograms less than the MC20.

The car has a top speed of 324 km/h and acceleration from zero to 100 km/h is reported in 2.8 seconds.

Maserati says the car combines technology for the purest performance, something found in a race car, and the qualities of the MC20, resulting in a car with both style and comfort as well as performance chops.

Maserati points out the cabin of the car features purposeful and driver-oriented design with dark elements, matte finishes and Alcantara upholstery to minimize reflections and distractions while driving.

“Maserati GT2 Stradale is a unique product, bringing together as it does the brand’s greatest sporting heritage, and at the same time representing evolution of one of Maserati’s most iconic vehicles, the MC20 halo car,” said Maserati CEO Davide Grasso in a news release. “This model intended for everyday driving was created based on the desire to offer our customers more and more in terms of technical mastery, innovation, design and emotions in road driving: on the one hand, we find sophisticated solutions reserved for models designed for track use only, the epitome of Maserati’s racing DNA; on the other, we can guarantee optimal comfort paired with all the most advanced driver assistance systems. Maserati GT2 Stradale is a product that can fulfil the requirements of the most discerning enthusiasts, a new creation that expresses the brand’s entire essence.”
