Rimac launches 2,107-hp Nevera R

The acceleration time of zero to 300 km/h in less than nine seconds is impressive, but the car was built for cornering, the Croatian automaker says.

At a time in automotive history when even seven-seat SUVs exceed 1,000 hp, that figure just won’t cut it in the hypercar segment anymore.

And Croatian hypercar builder Rimac is giving the world much more than that.

The automaker launched the Nevera R, an electric hypercar that builds on the Nevera, but now packs 2,107 hp.

Only 40 will be sold worldwide.

The performance figures are otherworldly.

As reported by Rimac, the performance numbers are:

  • Top speed: 412 km/h (256 mph) with manufacturer oversight
  • 0-60 mph: 1.74 seconds
  • 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph): 1.81 seconds
  • 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph): 4.38 seconds
  • 100-200 km/h (62-124 mph): 2.46 seconds
  • 0-300 km/h (0-186 mph): 8.66 seconds
  • Quarter-mile: 8.23 seconds

Rimac says the Nevera R uses cutting-edge technology to get more power and efficiency from a new, lighter package built around a 108-kWh battery pack.

Thanks to a new all-wheel torque vectoring system, the car is able to offer sharper, tighter cornering, while increased downforce improves high-speed stability and lateral performance, Rimac says.

“When we developed the Nevera, an important part of the brief was that it should be a Grand Tourer. We made sure it was spacious, comfortable and finely balanced between thrilling and accessible,” said Mate Rimac, Rimac Group founder and CEO, in a news release.

“Ultimately what we achieved struck that balance perfectly; a high-performance record-breaking car that could set new benchmarks at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and be driven comfortably thousands of miles across continents. It was a watershed moment in automotive performance; the world’s first production all-electric hypercar, single-handedly leading a new generation. But we’re relentlessly tweaking to customers’ desires, and many were looking for a car that really emphasized the Nevera’s cornering ability, using all the advanced technology on-board. We responded with the Nevera R: all the DNA of the record-breaking Nevera, but lighter, faster and more focused.”
