Goodbye, Lamborghini Huracán and your V10 engine. Hello, Lamborghini Temerario and your 10,000-rpm twin-turbo V8 hybrid.
Lamborghini has unveiled its latest super sports car, the Temerario, which replaces the Huracán in the Italian supercar maker’s lineup and slots in below the Revuelto.
And this bad boy has a total power output of 907 hp.
“The Temerario is a genuine ‘fuoriclasse’: a car in a league of its own, an extraordinary and innovative vehicle both from a technical and stylistic point of view,” said Stephan Winkelmann, chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, in a news release. “Every new Lamborghini must surpass its forerunners in performance terms, while at the same time being more sustainable from an emissions standpoint. With the Temerario, we have completed a key chapter in the electrification strategy included in our Direzione Cor Tauri plan: we also become the first luxury automotive brand to offer a completely hybridized range.”

Powertrain
Let’s look at the numbers, starting with the powertrain.
The Temerario has a flat-plane crankshaft 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that is a completely new design. It produces 789 hp between 9,000 and 9,750 rpm and 538 lb.-ft. of torque between 4,000 and 7,000 rpm. Power from this engine is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission mounted transversely behind the V8. A different soundscape is available based on the drive mode selected, so owners can choose a quiet ride when desired or something louder when ripping up the track.
The car also has three electric motors, each one with up to 148 hp. Two oil-cool axial flow electric motors drive the front axle when required, achieving all-wheel drive. Total power sent to the front wheels is 295 hp. The car comes with a lithium-ion battery pack with an overall capacity of 3.8 kWh and can be recharged when plugged in, via regenerative braking or by the V8 engine.

Performance
We know the car will be fast, but how fast?
Here are the numbers reported by Lamborghini:
- Maximum speed – 343 km/h (213 mph)
- Acceleration 0 to 100 km/h – 2.7 seconds
- Braking 100 to 0 km/h – 32 metres
The body and frame are made of aluminum. Lamborghini says a variety of spaceframe technologies helped minimize weight and used fewer components than in its predecessor. Torsional stiffness was increased by more than 20 per cent, the automaker added.

Sizing up
Headroom is increased by 34 mm, legroom by 46 mm and visibility is increased by 4.8 degrees over the Huracán. Lamborghini says the car can accommodate passengers up to 200 cm (6 feet 6.7 inches) tall.
The car itself measures 4,706 mm long, 1,996 mm wide (2,246 mm with mirrors), 1,201 mm tall and has a dry weight of 1,690 kg (3,725.8 pounds).
Wheels measure 20 inches in front and 21 inches in the rear and are available in three different designs and materials – cast rims (three colors), forged (four colors) and carbon. The front gets 10-piston brakes and the rears get four pistons.
The car is launching with two colours, Blu Marinus (blue) and Verde Mercurius (green); however, more than 400 body colours and special liveries will be available through Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program.
Pricing and an availability date haven’t been announced yet, but you can start configuring your ride already on the Lamborghini website.
