The image you see above is only a concept vehicle, but Acura says it is a preview of an upcoming all-electric production model.

Details of the Acura Performance EV Concept were released Thursday, Aug. 15 and the electric SUV will have its public unveiling Friday, Aug. 16 at Monterey Car Week.

It is a showcase of the automaker’s performance-focused design direction.

“Acura’s electrification strategy now brings us the Acura Performance EV Concept which exemplifies the styling direction of our next all-new, all-electric Acura model that will debut in 2025,” said James Marchand, assistant vice president, Acura Canada, in a news release. “Our electrified future began with this year’s launch of the 2024 Acura ZDX. This next all-electric Acura SUV continues our vision to deliver an exhilarating driving experience to Acura customers in the electrified future.”

The upcoming electric SUV was developed at the Acura Design Studio in Los Angeles and is scheduled to go into production in late 2025. It’s also the first model engineered on a new Honda-developed EV platform and will be the first EV produced at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio.

“The Acura Performance EV Concept is the archetype of Acura Performance in the electrified era, taking full advantage of the extreme design freedom of stance and proportion offered by our next-generation EV platform to push the boundaries of Acura design even further,” said Dave Marek, Acura design executive, in the release. “As with our previous Acura concept vehicles, the Acura Performance EV Concept introduces a number of design themes that will be seen on future Acura vehicles.”

The concept vehicle has an athletic stance, a long wheelbase, short overhangs, and 23-inch wheels with brushed machined edges.

After Monterey Car Week, the concept vehicle will be featured at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, Aug. 18.
