General Motors has released details of the next-generation GMC Terrain, which is launching for the 2025 model year.

The compact SUV gets new design and features and a host of new safety and driver assistance features.

All trims of the Terrain are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with 175 hp and 203 lb.-ft. of torque, just like its GM sibling, the Chevrolet Equinox. The Terrain features all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission and maximum towing capacity is 1,500 pounds.

“The 2025 GMC Terrain builds on GMC’s strengths and offers our latest, premium technology and safety features, while bringing a fresh, bold design to our two-row SUV,” said Duncan Aldred, global vice president, Buick and GMC, in a news release. “With the next-gen Terrain and updated 2025 Yukon both slated to launch later this year, the entire GMC SUV lineup will be refreshed by year end.”

The new Terrain comes standard with a 15-inch infotainment screen on which up to three applications can be viewed simultaneously and an 11-inch driver information screen. The infotainment screen can be controlled via touchscreen or via Google Assistant.

It also gets heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

Driver assistance features include:

  • Enhanced automatic emergency braking
  • Bicyclist braking
  • Intersection automatic emergency braking
  • Rear cross traffic braking
  • Reverse automatic braking
  • Side bicyclist alert
  • Blind zone steering assist

The Terrain is also available with up to eight camera views, including an optional rear camera mirror.
