2025 Mazda CX-90 available in six-, seven- and eight-seat configurations

To get the six-seat layout, buyers would have to opt for the top-of-the-line model of the large SUV.

Mazda Canada released details of its CX-90 large SUV, which is receiving a few updates for 2025 and new seating configurations.

The 2025 CX-90 is available in six-, seven- and eight-seat configurations, but the number of seats varies trim to trim. The SUV is also available in mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.

Let’s take a look at each trim level, and how many seats they have, moving from bottom to top.

CX-90 MHEV GS

The base model is powered by an e-Skyactiv G 3.3-litre turbo engine with 280 hp and 332 lb.-ft. of torque and features M-Hybrid Boost, a 48-volt mild hybrid to improve efficiency and low speed throttle response.

The model has seating for eight, featuring bench seating in the second and third rows.

MSRP: $45,900

CX-90 MHEV GS-L

This model remains available with eight seats, but customers can choose an optional seven-seat configuration by opting for second-row captain’s chairs with armrests and a centre walk-through.

The model also receives a number of features over the base model, including an increased towing capacity to 5,000 pounds, up from 3,500.

MSRP: $50,750 (no price change with captain’s chairs)

CX-90 MHEV GT

This model comes standard with eight seats but has available second-row heated captain’s chairs with armrests and centre walk-through.

The model also features a host of new content, including additional features to the i-Activesense safety system.

MSRP: $55,350 (no price change with captain’s chairs)

CX-90 PHEV GS

This plug-in hybrid model gets a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine mated with an electric motor and a 17.8-kWh battery, producing a combined 323 hp and 369 lb.-ft. of torque, when using 91 octane premium fuel. All PHEV models have a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.

This model has an eight-seat setup.

MSRP: $54,900

CX-90 PHEV GS-L

This model adds a variety of content to the features list over the GS model, plus comes standard with seating for seven, featuring standard captain’s chairs in the second row.

MSRP: $59,750

CX-90 PHEV GT

The GT model gains more features over the models above and comes standard with seven seats, including second-row heated captain’s chairs.

MSRP: $64,350

CX-90 MHEV GT-P

Moving close to the top-of-the-line model, the CX-90 MHEV GT-P features a mild hybrid setup, powered by the e-Skyactiv G 3.3-litre turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine with 340 hp and 369 lb.-ft. of torque when using 91 octane premium fuel.

This model is available with seven- or eight-seat configurations, with a choice between a second-row bench or second-row captain’s chairs with armrests and centre walk-through.

MSRP: $59,300 (no price change with captain’s chairs)

CX-90 MHEV Signature

At the top of the model range is the Signature model, which features seating for six as it features second-row captain’s chairs as well as two seats in the third row to give occupants more space between each other.

MSRP: $63,300

The MSRP doesn’t include fees, levies or taxes. The 2025 CX-90 is planned to go on sale in late summer in Canada.
