The cheapest new car available in Canada is approaching the end of the road.
Mitsubishi Motors Canada confirmed the Mirage will be discontinued in the Canadian market with production ending later this year. It is also being discontinued in the United States.
“We expect to have sufficient dealer stock to last through the first quarter of 2025,” the company wrote in an email.
The Mitsubishi Mirage is available as a four-door hatchback in Canada and has a base manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $16,998. The next cheapest car in Canada, the Nissan Versa, has a base MSRP that’s $3,500 higher. The MSRP doesn’t include fees, levies or taxes.
The Mirage is a five-seater that is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine with 78 hp. Combined city/highway fuel efficiency is rated at 6.2 L/100 km.
The base model features heated front seats, automatic climate control, a seven-inch smartphone link display, rain-sensing windshield wipers and more.
More information on the car is available on the Mitsubishi Motors Canada website.
