The Cobble Beach Golf Resort will once again host a showcase of what organizers call a presentation of more than 100 “beautiful and rarely seen works of automotive art.”

The Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance and Motoring Festival is scheduled for Sept. 13 to 15 at the Kemble, Ont. golf resort on the shores of Georgian Bay, near Owen Sound.

The event is now in its 10th year, and to date has raised more than $1 million for Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Foundation and Sunnybrook Foundation.

“It is our great honour to have the opportunity to raise money for two amazing facilities close to our hearts,” said Rob McLeese, founder and show chair, in a news release. “We could not do this without the generous donations from our partners who provide items for our auction, as well as the patrons attending our events. We are grateful to the community for making this event possible.”

Concours d’Elegance is derived from a French term that means competition of elegance. Organizers say only the most elegant and authentic vehicles are invited to participate in the festival’s main event on Sunday.

There are a number of events set to happen over the festival’s three days.

The Participants’ Tour happens on Friday. This is a 115-kilometre drive to the historic town of Meaford.

On Saturday, the festival features the sixth annual Cars & Coffee event in downtown Owen Sound’s River District as well as the third Concours d’Lemons event, also happening in the River District. There are also automotive seminars at the Roxy Theatre in Owen Sound, the Collector’s Dinner (for participants and invited guests only) and a live auction in support of the Sunnybrook Foundation.

The main event happens on Sunday right at the golf resort.

Participants’ vehicles will be lined up on the 18th fairway where visitors will be able to view the beautifully maintained cars while judges judge them.

Awards will be presented to the winners in the early afternoon.

“Join us for a day filled with exquisite cars, expert judging, and the thrill of witnessing automotive history come to life,” organizers say on the event’s website.

This year also celebrates 60 years of the Ford Mustang.

Tickets are available online with various packages available. General admission to the main event costs $69 for adults, $45 for youth (ages 13 to 17) or $188 for families of two adults and two youths. Children 12 and under get in free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Volunteers

The event is also seeking volunteers to help with a variety of tasks during the three-day festival. Some volunteer opportunities are also available ahead of the festival, from Monday to Thursday.

Volunteers are required to commit a minimum of four- to six-hour shift. A mandatory volunteer meeting happens Monday, Sept. 2 from 1 to 3 p.m.

There are perks to being a volunteer, including one adult general admission ticket to Sunday’s Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance, a meal voucher and more.
