Gone is the V6 in the Infiniti QX60, replaced by a four-cylinder engine that packs nearly the same horsepower and more torque.
Infiniti Canada revealed details of its midsize three-row SUV for the 2025 model year, which receives some updates, including the use of the new engine.
The SUV comes with the company’s 2-litre VC-Turbo (variable compression turbo) engine that is already in use in the QX50 and QX55.
What is variable compression?
This is the world’s first mass-produced variable-compression engine. Most engines run at a static compression ratio, such as 10:1, which is calculated based on the volume of the cylinder when the piston is at the bottom of its stroke compared to the cylinder’s volume when the piston is at the top if its stroke. The VC-Turbo can adjust the compression ratio depending on the situation, accelerator input and other factors and has a compression range of 8:1 to 14:1. Infiniti says the engine has a blend of responsive performance and impressive efficiency.
In the 2025 QX60, the engine is rated at 268 hp and 286 lb.-ft. of torque – that’s 27 fewer horses and 16 lb.-ft. more torque than the 2024 model’s V6 engine. Towing capacity remains at 6,000 pounds and fuel efficiency is said to be improved. The motor is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Black Edition
Also new for the 2025 model year is the new Black Edition trim.
It features gloss black 20-inch wheels as well as gloss black roof rails, grille surround and exterior emblems. There’s an illuminated Infiniti emblem on the front grille, which complements the illuminated kick plates and Welcome Light.
On the inside, there’s a black headliner.
Exterior colours include Mineral Black, Majestic White or new for 2025 Harbour Gray.
New for all models
All QX60 grades now also feature a new key fob with approach unlock and walkway locking functions. When turned on, this automatically locks or unlocks the vehicle, as appropriate, by detecting when someone with the key fob walks up to or away from the vehicle.
The Canadian manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the base model starts at $60,345, which doesn’t include fees, levies and taxes. More information is available at infiniti.ca.
