If you’re a fan of all things Mopar, then New Hamburg, Ont. is where you’ll want to be later this summer.

Moparfest, billed as Canada’s largest all Mopar car show, is happening Aug. 17 and 18. Last year’s event featured more than 1,500 vehicles, and visitors can expect similar numbers in 2024.

Organizers say they’ve receive registrations for vehicles from as early as 1933 all the way to the current year. Registrants are also expected to arrive from as far as California, Washington state, Florida, Alberta and Prince Edward Island.

“We have a quickly filling indoor arena display of freshly restored, first-time shown, and otherwise unbelievable, award-winning Mopar vehicles lined up,” organizers said in an email.

While organizers admit it can be a hit or miss whether some registered vehicles arrive (because of breakdowns, long distances of travel, etc.), here are some highlight vehicles expected this year:

  • 1963 Plymouth 426 Max Wedge Super Stock car (coming from Florida)
  • 1969 ½ 440 6-bbl (M-code) Plymouth Road Runner (first-time shown)
  • 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A, which used to run in NHRA and is still a running drag car
  • A couple of 1930s Chrysler Airflow vehicles were also pre-registered, one of which is expected from California.

Lastly, while this hasn’t been confirmed, organizers are hopeful there will be an appearance of one or two Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 cars. This 1,025-hp variant was released in 2023.

While the event is a showcase of cars, there will be a whole lot more to see and do.

There will be live entertainment, a DJ spinning tunes, drag races for kids in Power Wheels, food tents and a beer garden, silent auction, prizes, awards, Tom Sarmento from the “Dukes of Hazzard” TV show and much more.

Furthermore, 12 participating Dodge dealers and Chrysler Canada will showcase new vehicles.

There is a strict no pets policy at the event.
