
There’s now a name to a record Nürburgring Nordschleife run – a record for a luxury four-door car that is.
Porsche has released model details of two variants of its new Panamera luxury saloon – including the one in which test driver Lars Kern completed the Nürburgring circuit in a luxury car record time of 7:24.17 minutes earlier in July.
That car is called the Turbo S E-Hybrid.
The other Panamera the automaker released details of is the GTS, and both are said to be top models of the Panamera line.
Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid
First, let’s look at the nitty-gritty of the Turbo S E-Hybrid, the top dog in the Panamera line.
The car features a biturbo 4-litre V8 engine (590 hp) mated to an electric motor (187 hp) that is completely integrated into the housing and into the cooling circuit of the car’s eight-speed PDK transmission.
Total system output is 771 hp and 738 lb.-ft. of torque.
The car can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and the top speed is 325 km/h, Porsche says. This beats the previous generation’s Turbo S E-Hybrid by 0.5 seconds and 25 km/h.
Additionally, the car is now more efficient than before. The high-voltage battery now stores 45 per cent more energy (gross 25.9 kWh), giving the car an electric range of up to 88 kilometres.

Panamera GTS
The GTS is the Panamera GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport, and this model is called the most agile Panamera.
It was designed for sportiness and maximum driving pleasure with a high day-to-day usability. The chassis was tuned for high performance.
Among the highlights of the car’s setup is a standard dual-chamber two-valve air suspension including Porsche active suspension management (PASM) tuned to be particularly sporty. The body is 10 millimetres lower and the car receives reinforced anti-roll bars and a lower basic spring rate.
The car features a biturbo V8 engine with 493 hp that offers a linear power delivery, Porsche says.
Zero to 100 km/h arrives in 3.8 seconds and the top speed is 302 km/h.
Canadian pricing
The base MSRP in Canada on the GTS is $173,400, while the base MSRP on the Turbo S E-Hybrid is $257,000. The cars can be ordered now. Porsche says deliveries will begin in Germany this fall.
