The Honda Prelude hybrid performance car has been confirmed for Europe, but what about us in Canada?
The good news is that even though the car has not been confirmed for Canada, we’ve also not received a flat no about its future here.
In fact, Honda Canada told this blog to stay tuned for information on if and when the all-new Prelude comes to Canada, so let’s stay tuned.
What is the Prelude?
Us Canadians will remember the Prelude as a small, front-wheel-drive coupe, which had been around for decades until it was discontinued in 2001.
The revived Prelude looks to continue with a sporty design, but this time it will sport a hybrid powertrain. Honda has not yet provided engine details, so we’ll just wait on information about its powertrain, price, etc. Keep in mind that what Europeans get may not be exactly what North Americans get, if we get it.
But Honda said in a news release the new Prelude will deliver the “perfect balance of exhilarating driving pleasure and outstanding efficiency.”
“The new Prelude not only marks the latest chapter in our ever evolving hybrid story, it is also the product of 25 years of pioneering hybrid research and development, ensuring this model maintains its ‘sporty’ DNA by perfectly blending the efficiency and environmental advantages of electrified driving with an exhilarating experience behind the wheel – liberating users from their daily lives with increased driving pleasure,” said Tomoyuki Yamagami, chief engineer and large project leader, Honda Motor, in a news release.
