On these hot summer days, you may find yourself desiring a car that offers open-top motoring – that’s if you are into this type of weather.
We may never again see convertibles as inexpensive as the old Chevy Cavalier or the PT Cruiser, but there are some options for a not-too-hefty price.
Here’s what 2024 model-year convertibles are available in Canada at a price of less than $55,000.
The following article is neither a review nor a recommendation, it is simply a list of what’s available. Starting advertised price is the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), including fees and levies. Price after tax is what you may expect to pay. Fees, levies and taxes may differ province to province. This list is based on Ontario prices. Dealers may set their own prices. This list doesn’t include manufacturer or dealer discounts, special offers or incentives. Check with your local dealer for an exact price. Inventory issues may impact vehicle availability.

Mini Cooper Convertible
Starting advertised price: $43,897
Price after tax: $49,603
Seats: 4
Mini’s convertible comes with a top that can be opened, closed or somewhere in between with a sunroof mode, the automaker says. Minis are designed to be small in footprint but large in fun. The base model comes with a 2-litre engine producing 134 hp, which won’t win you drag races but the car makes its key fun points in being a lightweight, tossable car around the corners. Keep in mind, the 2024 model is part of the outgoing generation so vehicle availability may be down to what’s still left to be sold.
