The sedan will be available in Canada for the 2025 model year but the automaker wouldn’t say what would happen beyond that year.

Availability of Volvo’s compact luxury sedan may be coming to an end in Canada, although the automaker didn’t give a definitive answer whether it would be or not.

Volvo Car Canada confirmed to this blog that production of the S60 sedan would be ending at its Ridgeville, South Carolina plant. However, the S60 will continue to be produced in Daqing, China.

Additionally, 2025 model year S60 cars produced this year will still be introduced in Canada, the company said.

“Volvo Cars is reconfiguring the Ridgeville plant for production of the EX90, and in order to balance global production capacity, the decision was taken to only continue S60 production in Daqing,” an email from company spokesperson Jennifer Okoeguale said.

The company wasn’t able to say if Chinese-made S60 cars would be available in Canada beyond the 2025 model year.

In Canada, the S60 is available as a mild hybrid or the S60 Recharge plug-in hybrid.

The 2024 S60 has a starting price of $53,939, while the S60 Recharge starts at $58,389. The plug-in hybrid has a total power output of 455 hp and zero to 100 km/h acceleration is reported in 4.5 seconds.

Volvo has one other sedan, the larger S90, which is available as a mild hybrid or the S90 Recharge plug-in hybrid.
