Kia Canada reports massive EV sales gains

The company has achieved 78 per cent of 2023’s total electric vehicle sales by the end of May 2024.

Kia Canada is reporting May was its best-ever sales month for electric vehicles and the year is off to a hot start for EV sales as well.

In May alone, the company sold 1,899 EVs, which is a 255 per cent increase over May 2023.

To the end of May, the company has sold 6,138 EVs so far this year, which is good for 78 per cent of total 2023 EV sales.

“The continuous growth of our EV sales is demonstrating that the shift to a more sustainable future is indeed happening,” said Elias El-Achhab, VP and COO of Kia Canada, in a news release.

“With award-winning designs and future-proofed technology like ultra-fast charging, Kia EVs more than meet the daily lifestyle needs of Canadians.”

In May of this year, the company sold 887 EV6 units, 515 EV9 units and 497 Niro EV models.

What’s more, Kia Canada’s EV sales in 2023 were 202 per cent higher than 2022.
