The Bugatti Chiron, the first production car to exceed 300 mph, has now sped off into the sunset.
Bugatti announced it has delivered the 500th and final Chiron and now production of the supercar has ended.
The final car, now in the hands of its owner, is a bespoke Super Sport model called “L’Ultime.”
The Chiron debuted in 2016 with a global launch in Geneva. The Chiron, featuring a W16 engine, was the first production car with 1,500 PS (1,479 hp).
Since the initial Chiron launched in 2016, multiple variants have since been introduced, including Chiron Sport, Chiron Pur Sport, Chiron Super Sport and various special editions including the Chrion Super Sport 300+. The Super Sport 300+ is the car capable of driving 300 mph.
The final car is a bespoke version of the Super Sport, a car with a quad-turbo W16 engine pumping out 1,578 hp. It’s the same motor that’s in the Super Sport 300+.
For the final car, the Bugatti Sur Mesure team reimagined the original design, and used a fading pattern of the French Racing Blue and Atlantic Blue colours. The car also features a “tribute to all the places where the car has spread its magic since 2016,” Bugatti Automobiles said in a news release.
The final Chiron also features a handwritten number 500 on the exterior, wheel caps and rear wing and is engraved into the engine cover.

“With this bespoke work of art, we have retraced the Chiron’s majestic eight-year journey with unforgettable moments that have taken place throughout the world, creating legions of fans for the Chiron, not to mention its countless industry-first breakthroughs and unique world-first achievements. This 500th and final Chiron model is a fitting farewell that captures a defining legacy that will forever be etched in automotive history and paves the way to a bright new chapter, starting with the production of the Bolide and the W16 Mistral and continuing with the unveiling of our new model in June,” said Christophe Piochon, president of Bugatti Automobiles, in a news release.
