BMW recently launched an updated version of its 4 Series car, including the M4, and now has done the same the to the electric i4.

The new i4 will debut as a 2025 model year and will launch globally in July 2024.

In Canada, the car is available in the Gran Coupe body style.

BMW Group Canada says the car features new exterior paint finishes and light-ally wheels, new designs for the headlights and the rear lights are available with laser-lit accents to accentuate the bold visual impact.

On the inside, the car gets a new curved display and the latest version of the BMW iDrive with QuickSelect, based on the BMW Operating System 8.5.

The car also gets new steering wheel designs, interior trim elements and upholsteries. Interior trim choices include: Brushed Aluminum, Fineline Light Open-Pored Wood Trim, and Ash Grey Blue Open-Pored Wood Trim. The BMW i4 M50 xDrive variant features a kidney grille in a high-gloss black surround and horizontally arranged bars wearing a BMW M logo. Front apron elements are now in high-gloss black.

An optional M Carbon Exterior Package includes a side air intake at the front end, M specific exterior mirror caps, finishers on the sides of the rear diffuser and a subtle rear spoiler all made from carbon fibre-reinforced plastic, the automaker says.

BMW says its Intelligent Personal Assistant is becoming more interactive and intuitive. There’s also a choice of two different looks for the graphics visualizing the digital companion on the control display. The assistant now acknowledges the request, such as to look for a filling station nearby by showing the image of a fuel pump.

It’s now even easier to input destinations into Maps, which is part of the Connected Package Professional, BMW says. Another improvement to Maps is a function that enables charging-optimized route planning over long journeys. BMW says charging stops are planned so that the destination is reached as soon as possible. A driver’s preferred minimum charge level can be be adjusted and incorporated into route planning.

The system offers a range of information, including supported connector types, payment types, or the availability of sanitary, catering or shopping facilities in the vicinity.

The My BMW App, available free for iOS and Android, acts as a universal digital interface that provides information about the vehicle, such as charging status and remaining range at any time, BMW says.

The new i4 will be built in Munich. BMW Group Canada says pricing will be announced soon.
