Mercedes-Benz Canada is expanding its EQB electric vehicle offering by introducing the EQB 300 4MATIC to the market.
Canadians already have the front-wheel-drive EQB 250+ available, while the 300 adds all-wheel drive, more power and other goodies.
The automaker calls the EQB a practical luxury SUV. Despite compact dimensions, it can be had with an optional third row for up to seven passengers. The standard configuration has seating for up to five people.
The EQB 300 comes standard with 18-inch wheels, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen multimedia display, an updated generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX), panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, ambient lighting, multifunction steering wheel in leather with touch button controls and shift paddles, power liftgate, voice control, split-folding rear seats (40/20/40), eight-way power driver and passenger seat with three-position memory, rearview camera, adaptive braking technology, blind spot assist, and more.
Mercedes-Benz says the third-row seats offer a comfortable amount of space to passengers up to 1.65 metres tall.
Safety features include retractable head restraints, seat belts with belt tensioners and force limiters on all outer seats and a side windowbag that also covers passengers in the third row. Up to four child seats can be fitted in rows two and three. The third-row seats can be lowered flush into the load floor.
The exterior of the EQB has also been refreshed, with a new front, including a newly designed black panel surface with star pattern at the front and a horizontal fibre-optic strip connecting to the daytime running lights of the full-LED headlamps.
The 300 has 225 hp and 288 lb.-ft. of torque, and range is rated at 340 kilomtres on a full charge.
For comparison sake, the 250+ has 188 hp and 284 lb.-ft. of torque, and a range of 394 kilometres.
Pricing on the EQB 300 starts at $64,990, plus fees and charges, for the standard model.
