
Kia took home a pair of honours at the 2024 World Car Awards, which were announced at the New York International Auto Show Mach 27.
The winners are as follows:
- World Car of the Year – Kia EV9
- World Electric Vehicle – Kia EV9
- World Luxury Car – BMW 5 Series/i5
- World Performance Car – Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
- World Urban Car – Volvo EX30
- World Car Design of the Year – Toyota Prius
- World Car Person of the Year – Adrian Newey, chief technical officer of Red Bull Racing
“We are honored that the EV9 has been named the World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle,” said Ho Sung Song, president and CEO at Kia, in a news release. “This is a testament to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology and design excellence. The EV9’s continued success will drive us to keep delivering exceptional vehicles that redefine the driving experience for customers around the world.”
The World Car Awards are voted on by more than 100 global journalists who test drive and evaluate new or fully redesigned vehicles that are for sale in multiple markets on more than one continent each year.
