Mercedes-AMG is showing there is a replacement for displacement with its latest GT Coupe offering.
The 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 43 is powered by a 2 L turbocharged engine, and it has gobs of power.
This four-cylinder marvel pumps out 416 hp and 369 lb.-ft. of torque. Sprint times from zero to 100km/h come in 4.6 seconds, Mercedes-Benz Canada says.
Back at the end of 2023, the company launched the new generation of the GT Coupe with GT 55 and GT 63 variants. You can read more on those here.
In the GT 43, the engine features electric exhaust gas turbocharger technology derived from Formula 1, which allows for spontaneous throttle response across the entire rpm range. The turbocharger is powered by a 48-volt onboard electrical system.
The onboard electrical system also feeds a belt-driven starter generator, which functions as a mild hybrid. This mild hybrid system provides support at lower engine speeds and enables gliding and recuperation for increased fuel efficiency.

The company says the technology also increases ride comfort by making the transition between start-stop and gliding almost imperceptible.
“Our AMG GT family is at the top of our portfolio and embodies the spirit of our brand: Driving Performance. We are therefore delighted that this family is now growing to include the GT 43. It is clearly recognizable as a GT but is clearly different from the other models. It appeals to customers who love design and focus on elegance but are unwilling to compromise on driving pleasure and driving dynamics. The rear-wheel drive concept makes the GT 43 a very agile vehicle that will put a smile on your face on winding roads,” said Mercedes-AMG GmbH CEO Michael Schiebe in a March 19 news release.
As mentioned in the quote above, the GT 43 has a rear-wheel-drive platform, while the GT 55 and GT 63 feature all-wheel drive.
The GT 43 comes with the AMG Speedshift 9G multi-clutch transmission. The wet start-off clutch, rather than a torque converter, reduces weight and optimizes response to accelerator pedal input thanks to its lower inertia, especially during sports and load changes.

On the interior, the car features a combination of analog geometry and digital technology, which Mercedes designers call “hyper-analog.”
There’s a fully digital instrument cluster, which is integrated into a three-dimensional visor. The centre console flows into the lower section of the instrument panel.
There’s an 11.9-inch multimedia touchscreen. The Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system is meant to be intuitive to use and capable of learning.
In the GT 43, you get standard AMG sports seats with Nappa leather, and AMG performance seats with integrated headrests and increased lateral support are optional.
