The all-new Mazda CX-70, which debuts for the 2025 model year, has been priced for the Canadian market.

The entry level mild-hybrid variant of the mid-size SUV starts at $49,750, not including freight, PDI, fees and taxes, while the entry level plug-in hybrid variant starts at $58,750. There are six trim levels in total to choose from.

The CX-70 offers two rows of seating, lots of cargo space, a host of technological and safety advancements and an upscale interior.

Powertrain options

There are three powertrain options to choose from, including two variants of the e-Skyactiv G 3.3 L inline-six turbo with 48-volt M-Hybrid Boost (mild hybrid) powertrain.

The standard version of this powertrain, available on the GS-L and GT, has 280 hp and 332 lb.-ft. of torque. On the GS-L, fuel economy is estimated at 9.9 L/100 km city, 8.4 L/100 km highway, and 9.3 L/100 km combined.

When moving up to the GT-P and Signature, this powertrain produces 340 hp and 369 lb.-ft. of torque when using premium fuel. Fuel consumption is estimated at 10.3 L/100 km city, 8.5 L/100 km highway, and 9.5 L/100 km combined.

All GT-P models come equipped with Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive), featuring Normal, Sport, Off-Road and Towing modes. Towing mode allows for towing up to 5,000 pounds when equipped with Mazda genuine towing accessories.

The e-Skyactiv PHEV (plug-in hybrid) features a 2.5 L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine and an electric motor powered by a 17.8-kWh battery pack producing a combined 323 hp and 369 lb.-ft. of torque. This powertrain can travel up to 42 kilometres on electric power alone.

Towing capacity on PHEV variants is 3,500 pounds when equipped with Mazda’s towing accessories.

Mi-Drive modes include Normal, Sport, Off-Road, Towing and EV. EV mode allows the vehicle to travel on the electric motor and battery for as long as possible.

All choices, regardless of powertrain option, come with an eight-speed automatic transmission, i-Activ all-wheel drive and Mi-Drive (with several different mode options depending on model).

All CX-70s also feature Kinematic Posture Control technology, which suppresses body lift on tight corners to enhance stability and help all occupants maintain a natural posture, the company says.
