BMW Group is updating the 4 Series Coupe and Cabriolet and their sporty siblings, the M4 Coupe and Cabriolet for the 2025 model year.

4 Series

Let’s start with the non-M variants of the cars.

Whether you opt for the 2 L four-cylinder twin-turbo 430i Coupe or Cabriolet, or the 3 L six-cylinder twin-turbo M440i variants, you get a 48V mild-hybrid system.

In the more powerful M440i, the mild-hybrid system adds 11 hp on instantaneous boost to the 375-hp engine, for a total output of 386 hp and 398 lb.-ft. of torque.

The four-cylinder cars also receive mild-hybrid technology, along with a new Miller cycle combustion process, redesigned intake ports and combustion chambers and innovations to the camshaft control, injection, ignition system and exhaust gas routing. This powertrain produces 255 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque.

Both the four-cylinder and six-cylinder come with xDrive all-wheel drive.

The new 4 Series gets slim LED headlights and a large BMW kidney grill. The LED lights have been reworked to provide both low-beam and high-beam from a single LED module, while a pair of vertical arrow-shaped LED units are used as daytime running lights.

The cars come with new paint shades and alloy wheels measuring 19 inches.

BMW points out the updated 4 Series cars come with heightened sports car ambience in the cabin, with standard sports seats, including black with coral red highlights Vernasca leather seats that come standard on the M440i.

The cars come with a host of new technology. Among those is the updated BWM Operating System 8.5. The updated OS features a new home screen and QuickSelect rapid access technology for a more intuitive, easy control of various functions.

The new 4 Series cars will launch in March.

M4

The M versions build on the 4 Series cars and add a host of go-fast goodies. You can also pick up an M4 Coupe in rear-wheel-drive, manual-transmission form.

For the 2025 model year, there’s the M4 Coupe and the M4 Competition Coupe and Cabriolet, which all come with a high-revving six-cylinder 3 L twin-turbo engines.

In the M4 Coupe version, the car produces 473 hp, and the car comes with a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive.

The Competition versions of the car are powered by a 523-hp engine, and feature M xDrive all-wheel-drive systems. BMW says the Competition Coupe can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, thanks to the traction of the M xDrive system and the car’s power, while the Competition Cabriolet can do it in 3.7 seconds.

Maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. An optional M Driver’s Package ups the speed limiter to 280 km/h on the Cabriolet and 290 km/h on the Coupe.

The M4s come with 19-inch M forged light-alloy wheel at the front and 20-inch at the rear. Optional 825M in a bright silver finish are available.
