Stellantis commemorates final Hemi-powered Chrysler 300C built in Brampton

Final 300C rolled off Brampton assembly plant line in December, while non-Hemi 300 will end production no later than Dec. 31, 2023

The Hemi-powered Chrysler 300C has roared for the last time at its Brampton assembly plant.

Stellantis commemorated the end of the vehicle’s production earlier in December as the final Hemi-powered 2023 Chrysler 300C ended production Dec. 8, with the non-Hemi 300 slated to end production no later than Dec. 31, 2023.

“Chrysler brand is proud to mark the legacy of the Chrysler 300C as a true automotive icon, one of the original muscle cars representing bold American Luxury” said Chris Feuell, Chrysler brand chief executive officer, in a news release. “As we celebrate the last HEMI-powered 300C off the line with our Brampton team members, we’re also excited to work together as Chrysler brand moves forward to a sustainable all-electric future as part of the Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan.”

The first 300 was produced back in 1955 and it continued production until 1965, with each year receiving a successive letter of the alphabet, so in 1966 it was called the 300B, and in 1967 it was called 300C.

That 1967 300C featured 392-cubic-inch, 375-horsepower Hemi engine. Hemi is the name for a series of Chrysler V8 engines with hemispherical combustion chambers.

The 300 name was brought back again in 1999 with the 300M, a full-size, front-wheel-drive sedan. In 2005, the 300 series was introduced with a new design on a rear-wheel-drive platform.

In today’s cars, the C in the full-size sedan’s name refers to 300s with a Hemi engine.

The 2023 Chrysler 300C features 6.4 L 392-cubic-inch Hemi engine with 485 hp and 475 lb. ft. of torque.

The non-Hemi 300 features a 3.6 L V6 engine.

Stellantis, Chrysler’s parent company, says there were 2,000 special edition 300Cs built for the U.S. market and 200 for the Canadian market for the 2023 model year. They were all claimed by buyers within 12 hours of the announcement in 2022 that production of the 300 would end in 2023.
