The Policaro Foundation, the charitable arm of southern Ontario automotive retail company Policaro Group, has just completed donating $1 million to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children.

The latest donation of $236,787.60 to the SickKids Foundation was announced Dec. 13.

“We are incredibly proud of the Policaro Foundation and the positive impact it has on children in need of care,” said Aurora Policaro-Giannace, manager of corporate giving with Policaro Group, in a news release. “SickKids has a very special and personal place in the hearts of the Policaro family and we are grateful for our customers, employees and communities who support our mission of building a brighter, healthier future for our children, one smile at a time.”

Through the Policaro Foundation, the Policaro Group has been supporting causes such as food banks, holiday toy drives, hospitals in Oakville, Brampton and Kitchener-Waterloo, and more.

It has also invested in SickKids over the years. In 2018, the Policaro Fetal Cardiac Fellowship was established at SickKids to treat infants with heart conditions. This fellowship will support the hospital’s Labatt Family Heart Centre, which is Canada’s primary fetal cardiac diagnosis and treatment centre. Trainees in the fellowship will also go on to work in pediatric heart centres in Ontario and worldwide, the news release says.

The latest donation is the result of fundraising through the Policaro Foundation Track Experience, an annual event that happened Set. 13 this year. The event featured talks from fellows and patient ambassadors, a silent auction and multiple drive experiences in order to garner donations.
