Subaru has revealed the next generation of its Forester and the company says the 2025 model year will begin selling across Canada in spring 2024.
Pricing will be announced closer to when the SUV will be available for sale, Subaru Canada said in a Nov. 16 news release.
The Forester had its reveal at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Here are some highlights:
The compact SUV gets an all-new design while maintaining a clearly Subaru look. There’s a new, large grille, and small LED headlights. The company says the vehicle’s prominent wheel arches highlight its off-road capability.
Front, side and read under guards are standard.
A boxier rear with a steep rear glass, something that’s becoming standard in this class, improves cargo capacity.
An air outlet at the trailing edge of the front wheel openings allows air to exit more freely to improve driving stability.

On the interior, the Forester gets a multimedia system with a centre information display. Dash elements and a dark headliner are meant to hide scuffs from daily use.
Structural, Subaru says the new Forester gets more body rigidity and lighter weight thanks to stronger welding techniques and additional structural adhesives. This, in turn, improves performance, creates a smoother ride and a quieter cabin.
Standard on all trims, the 2025 Forester receives EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which can identify cyclists and pedestrians at intersections and alerts the driver and applies braking to avoid collisions. There’s also reverse automatic breaking, blind-spot detection with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
Emergency Stop Assist will become available for the first time in a Subaru. If the driver doesn’t respond to warnings while using advanced adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, the system will stop the vehicle, activate the hazard lights and unlock the doors. If subscribed to Subaru Starlink Connected Services, the system will also place a call to emergency services.
Other available safety features include the DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System, which monitors driver fatigue or lack of attention, Automatic Emergency Steering, Surround View Monitor for a 360-degree overhead view of the vehicle’s surroundings and a Rear Seat Reminder to prevent child and pet entrapment.
The 2025 Forester will come standard with a 2.5 L boxer engine with 180 hp and 178 lb.-ft. of torque.
