A new trim of the Honda Ridgeline pickup truck wants to play in the mud.
Honda Canada announced the Ridgeline will get the TrailSport trim for the 2024 model year.
The TrailSport features an off-road-tuned suspension, all-terrain tires and steel underbody protection, shielding its oil pan from sharp rocks and other off-road hazards, the company said in a Nov. 6 news release.
The Ridgeline will be available in three trim levels, Sport, the new TrailSport with special off-road hardware, and the top-of-the-range Black Edition. All variants feature all-wheel drive.
Honda Canada says they’ll begin to be available at dealerships this winter.
“This latest Ridgeline continues Honda’s decades-long tradition of bringing rugged, off-road ready light trucks to our Canadian customers,” said Steve Hui, assistant vice president at Honda Canada, in the release. “The new Ridgeline TrailSport is even more capable with enhanced suspension, all-terrain tires and underbody protection, so you can take it and all your gear almost anywhere.”
Honda says the TrailSport will feature General Grabber A/T Sport tires (245/60R18), which improve traction in dirt, sand, mud, rocky terrain and snow, while remaining quiet and comfortable on the road.
Unique sprint rates, damper valve tuning and stabilizer bars improve off-road ride quality, while maintaining on-road comfort and handling.
Honda’s i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system “enhances controllability and traction management in all conditions, automatically sending up to 70 per cent of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels and continuously apportioning 100 per cent of that torque between the rear wheels based on driving conditions at each wheel,” the company said.
The TrailSport gets a unique grill, Pewter Grey 18-inch wheels and black door-pillar trim, with orange TrailSport badges on the new grill and tailgate.
The vehicle will be built Lincoln, Alabama.
